I need to Configure Project'or RIA to send email on Task assignment, closure etc..
Can someone provide me the steps to configure email settings.

Not possible yet. It is subject of Ticket #908. You must refer to status change (changing to "assigned" for instance)
send email on closure
Easy : go to menu Parameters => Controls & automations mail on events
Add a line for Ticket / new status = closed. Select receivers. Save.
Be sure resources have a valid email defined.
Check mail parameters on global parameters screen.
It should work.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have configured the email alerts and can see the updates in log file.
System is unable to send email alerts, I am getting below error message in log file, can you please help to resolve this issue ?
ERROR ***** Exception-[22001] SQLSTATE[22001]: String data, right truncated: 1406 Data too long for column 'mailBody' at row 1

This issue is fixed in V3.0. 😉
