Hello,
We have just installed version 12.2.1 on our test server.
In our PRODUCTION version (11.3.2), project managers could create their new project by making a copy of our template project.
With version 12.2.1, this is no longer possible (copy error message attached). We believe this is a legal issue.
Do you have any ideas ?
Thank you for your feedback.
Sincerely,
Christophe
We have just installed version 12.2.1 on our test server.
V12.2.1 just now ?
V12.2.2 is already deployed, you should hjave migrated to this last patch.
In our PRODUCTION version (11.3.2), project managers could create their new project by making a copy of our template project.
With version 12.2.1, this is no longer possible (copy error message attached). We believe this is a legal issue.
We had a security improvement on V12.1 toreinforce security.
This lead to issue when creating project at root of projects.
This was fixed on V12.2.2 ![]()
My advise : migrate to V12.2.2 to get latest patch
and why not consider subscription service to get all fixes as soon as they are validated ?
NB :workaround for this issue
Project Managers can copy the template as new project "under an existing one that they manage", as a sub-project.
Then move the new project at root (it is possible for an existing project)
I installed version 12.2.1 on August 13, 2025, and my colleagues began testing last week.
I'll be installing version 12.2.2, which you've made available, on our test server tomorrow.

Hi,
As I understand (correct if I'm wrong)
- the Project to copy of type Template (Modèle)
- user have defautl profile Project Leader (Chef de Projet)
- you did not change defaut access rights
Where does the project leader tries to copy the template ?
1) at the root pf projects structure ?
2) under the template project ?
3) under another existing project ?
Hello,
As I understand (correct if I'm wrong)
- the Project to copy of type Template (Modèle) -> YES
- user have defautl profile Project Leader (Chef de Projet) -> YES
- you did not change defaut access rights -> the rights are identical
You'll find a screenshot of the procedure. This worked in 11.3.2 and is no longer the case with version 12.2.2
This is impactful for us because we cannot put this version into PRODUCTION.

Hi,
I tested with standard configuration, there is no issue for project managers to copy template project.
I also tested use case on Demo : all works fine.
You can test it : connect as Manager (project leader profile), you'll be able to copy any template
I really don't understand why project leaders cannot copy template project in your case.
What is the default profile of user copying the template, the value on Resource or User screen ?
Can you please show screenshot of this resource and the configuration for Project on "access to data - project dependant"
Hi,
All seems correct.
Difficult to find source of issue.
(i contacted you through email)
Hello,
I just implemented version 12.2.3 in our test environment and the problem still exists.
Is this bug in copying models fixed in version 12.3 ?
Christophe
Can you show your copy pop-up ?
It is important to know where the project is copied.
As a project leader, you can copy a project only into projects that you manage.
So if your template is on a root project that you d'on't manage, you cannot copy it at the sema place than the template.
