Hello,
Its impossible to increase size of description field when activity ( maybe it same behavior on tickets and each object wich contains a description field) when status is closed because we can't edit this file on this status. we can increase this field only when it can be modified

If you mean "Full screen" option, it's an identified limitation.
Ticket #5272 already exists on the subject
