Hello, I have a scheduling question: When activities are under a parent activity, and the parent activity is scheduled between two dates, why don't the child activities in "as soon as possible" mode start from the validated start date of the parent activity?

Sub-activities will never be planned from Parent .
The process it exactly the opposite : parent is planned from sub-activities.
You can notice that when an activity has sub-activities, it does not have a planning mode any more : its start / end dates are calculated from sub-items, and if it has some work it is leveled between these dates.
