[#7481]

Hi,

I would like to ask is there a way such that the WBS shown in planning menus is dynamically numbered according to the projects selected to show in the planning menu? I tried even to show all the projects, there is project no. 1 missing as it seems to be due to the project 'Project-Leave Period" which is default for HR module administrative project and the project is not shown in the planning gantt, and reordering is not possible.

Thanks,
Rainbow

Hello,
I don't think the goal of WBS is to be dynamic. It's more of a fixed reference to easily identify a given element. Making it change according to what projects are visible would go against its definition but it's not impossible. Could you precise why you want this ?

Of course it is !
It is Work Breakdown Structure !
If structure changes, WBS indexing changes.

No !
ID is a fixed reference.
We also provide "reference" field for some unique numbering for a given project.

Sorry, I meant fixed as in it should be the same for every user at a given time, shouldn't it ?

(sorry for my misleading reply)

Of course WBS is the same for every user.
It changes only when you change the structure.

Hi babynus,

Yes, WBS should reflect the structure for any structure changes. Would you advise how to reorder the project with WBS 1 which is the default built-in project for leave period? As it is not shown in the planning menus, I couldn't reorder it to the bottom in order to at least show the non administrative project portfolio with WBS in order (1,2,3...). I included the screenshot in my first post for your reference.

Moreover, is it possible that the WBS to show in consecutive number (1,2,3 etc.) according to the no. of projects visible to each user and the projects order? I noticed that the project level WBS is not dynamically renumbered in consecutive number when filter applies or some projects changed to cancelled/closed status.

Thanks,
Rainbow

It's not possible.
We'll think of a change that will set WBS for this "technical" project to zero, so it won't set the mess (as it's never visible on the Gantt)

No, the WBS is the same for everyone, whatever his visibility.
So if you have
1 - Project A
2 - Project B
3 - Project C
User who can only see projects A and C will see
1 - Project A
3 - Project C

Many thanks for your consideration and explanation.
