I have currently only 1 message in the system, which is correctly displayed in the Today > Messages section.
But I cannot edit this message by using Tools > Messages because the message is not listed in the Messages list (the grey counter shows 0).
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

It must be because you have one project selected on the Project Selector (top left field)
Then messages are limited to Messages concerning this project (displayed only to members of this project)
Select "All projects" and all messages will be displayed.
