I face a regular issue when working on periodical meeting on version 5.2.5. When updating one meeting with its "compte-rendu", I don't change its status as one resource has not filled in the workload. I then update the workload and when I come back to meeting list, I don't see it anymore as it has moved to "canceled" without any action from me on status

Check global parameter "Set to first 'done' status".
If it is set to yes, on real work allocation, when you add real work so that there is no more left work, status automatically moves to next "done" status" (this is highlighted with a "finish" flag).
And if if your workflow the next "done" status for profile of current resource is cancelled, it can explain the behavior.
