You can not allocate expenses (material or other) to activities?
I see that this is only possible for projects
Yes, these reports are not designed to show closed projects.
It may be useful to link expenditures to the activities of a project including several activities or activities

Expense have no specific link to activities.
But expense can be "linked" to any other item, so you can "link" expense and activity.
