Hi Babynus,

I was doing some internet research / rambling, and I came across an interesting piece of OpenSource software:

ProcessMaker
http://www.processmaker.com/community-2

It's main goal is to allow graphical creation and management of workflows.

As you already taught me before (within the CMIS server functionality thread), I should check requirements before even considering integration, so I did:
http://wiki.processmaker.com/index.php/2.0/ProcessMaker_Installation_Requirements

It seems that it only requires HTTP server, MySQL and PHP, either on Win or Linux.
Thus, I guess (a wild one 😉 ) it may be "Project'OrRIA compatible".

Main features are listed here:
http://www.processmaker.com/key-features

But overall, integrating these features in Project'OrRIA (it seems) would allow:
- Portal admins to nicely (and graphically) create and mantain different workflow schemas.
- Chronological or file-arrival (through some sort of a monitor) workflow steps triggering.
- Generating forms, which are used as workflow steps triggers. People receive a form (as a message) and act on it: pressing buttons and filling in apropiate information triggers the corresponding next workflow step.
- (apparently) e-mail integration: people can interact through e-mail forms, and don't need to be logged in the system. (excellent for company/client exchange).

Not really sure about all this, but perhaps you could take a look on it and see what you think.

If all (or at least some of) those features could be integrated in Project'OrRIA (I think) it would be a great step forward regarding workflows. Since a few nice improvements around workflows are planned for v4.0, perhaps this could be Just-In-Time integration 😉

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on the subject, Babynus. And thanks!
Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for pointing out this framework.
I'll have a look when I get some time.

Regards.
