[#567]

Can context be added to the linked elements list, please (select type and context of that type)? This can sort out needs for multiple selection for components and attributes for ticket

Do your mean you want to select "context" (3 fields...) when selecting linked item ?
It is very strange, as context is defined only for tickets...
This is a very specific request, in my opinion, and will not be included in community version, unless other others point out they also need this...

Could you explain your request ?

Let's say one of the context types is OS. Some of the problems may be related not to one OS but to a few. The same situation can be with components (another context type), etc. So, we need to have multiple selection from context and it probably (I think) the simplest way to just link them... Actually the same can be for requirements, Issues, questions...

So maybe the more easy could be :
- either define every possibility in list, such as :
=> OS1
=> OS2
=> OS3
=> OS1 & OS2
=> OS2 & OS3
=> OS1 & OS3
=> All OS
- or define something like
=> OS1
=> OS2
=> OS3
=> not OS dependant
=> See description => then context is defined in description

Isn't it more simple ?

We have been trying this both ways. It may work for OS but with the components list very big this is not possible...
Implementation as a link will make no harm - only people who want will use it

So, I guess you're managing components list as one of the three contexts, I am right ?

I think it could be better to manage components as sub-products of concerned product, as this is much nearer to reallity.
Then you should just need to be able to insert a product as linked element.
This could be easy to include in next version (easier than context, as it is not a standard element), and could benefit to other users.

Would this fit your need ?

Yes, when we creating ticket we have 3 contexts related to it: OS, Components, and Attributes.
Components is shared between products, so they cannot be managed as sub-products unfortunately...

Hi,

As this need is very specific, I am not going to generalize it in community version.
But I explain just how to do :
- in you database, add new line in "linkable" table, with name="Context2"
This should add The corresponding context in the link element list.

I just tried it, there are some issues :
- the caption is not translated as expected : not taking into account the context type name
- when selecting this new item, selection list of items shows all contexts (not only the Context2 items).

I propose you :
- I implement in V2.4 what is needed so that Context2 will work correctly as linkable
- You will add the Context2 in table linkable in your database

This way, other users will not be impacted by this change.
What do you think about this ?

Actually I have tried to add it in "linkable" table but still cannot see it in the list.
So, if you will fix this to make it linkable I will be very happy with that.
Thank you very much!

Evgueni

HI,
after adding item in linkable, you need to refresh you screen ( F5 or disconnect / reconnect).
I tried it and it works.

Yes, it works this way. So, if you will make it "linkable" it will be enough.
Thanks,
Evgueni
