[#9825]

I have planned an task (activity) say "Construction of 1st floor - Duration : 1 month , Resource: CivilTeam-1" . This activity has predecessors and hence its start date is derived from the completion of all predecessor tasks. At the same time I want to split this task into smaller tasks, but instead of mentioning under the activities, I want to track through tickets like

  • Flooring - Duration - 7 days, resource - Civil Team-1
  • Rising Pillars, Duration - 14 days, resource - Civil team-1
  • Finishing, Duration - 7 Days, resource - CivilTeam-1.

I went through the help and thought the above would be better way of managing instead of mentioning every minor tasks in activities.
[list=1]

  • In the tasks the dates will be calculated based on the dependency tasks, will tasks' dates be managed by the dependencies?
  • The total efforts planned, real and left of task would be aggregate of tickets linked to it? Please confirm.
  • Is there any better way to manage macro level sub tasks and at the same time not to clutter the tasks mentioned in the activities?
  • Thanks in advance.

    Tickets are not "planned" items.
    So dates will not be calculated from predecessors.
    And also Tickets don't have planned duration (as they are not planned)

    So answers are :
    1) NO
    2) NO
    3) YES : sub-activities
