I was wondering if it is possible to switch of specific modules like Financial gallery, Projects portfolio, Risks, Decisions (because I would like to use the software mainly for project administration, management, planning and timing)?

If I understand your question , you want have a custom menu with few modules .
In the bar of icon of the top , you can right click for selected "add to custom menu bar " on the icon would you like have in your custom menu . After have choice menu , you can display your custom menu in top left ( see attachment ) .

Although I'm not sure if it is necessary to open a new topic for this, but I wanted you all (the community) to know that I am a designer for 26 years (15 years in online projects). So if you guys need a hand in updating the look and feel of ProjQtOr to a more modern/sophisticated (fresh and sparkling) design, then I would be more than welcome to put my efforts in it. Just let me know and we can see how to start the project.

Administrator has possibility to show/hide each icon for each profile.
Have a look at "Access Right">>"Acces to forms"
