[#6897]

I found the information that sorting by Priority currently is not directly supported in the Kanban board and that there is an open feature request for this. ( https://www.projeqtor.org/en/forum/3-propose-evolutions/10905-solved-kanban-sort-by-priority)

However, in the thread linked above, user bgenolini mentinoned she/he was able to work around this by using filters and sorting in filters.

I tried this out, but for me the resulting ordering appears to be somewhat random - I have the impression that the sorting works on the priority names in lexigographical order (i.e. sorting the names as in a phone book) instead of sorting the values by "importance" (order in the dropdown).

Could this be the case or am I doing something wrong?

Generally, to me sorting by priority appears to be an important feature for a Kanban board.

Hello,

effectively you can sort by priority on the kanban with filter.

Have you created your filter like on the screenshot ?

Yes, I did.

If I sort ascending, then Tickets with undefined priority are sorted first (which is ok, I guess), but then "Critical", then "High Priority", then "Medium" priority - which actually is not random, but which I'd see as "descending".

That's basically good already, as I want to have the most important tickets first, but I'd also like to sort tickets with undefined priority last.

If I try to sort "ascending", then tickets with undefined priority are sorted last - but the sorting among tickets which have a priority defined is actually descending (i.e. "Medium" before "High Priority" before "Critical").

So maybe my problem is just with tickets with undefined priority, as the order among the tickets which have a priority defined is fine if I configure "ascending" - even if I'd call the resulting ordering "descending", but it's what I'd like to have.

In acending sorting, null values will always be first.
To change order of priorities, you have to change the sortOrder of priorities (on priorities screen).
If the sortOrder is not defined, priorities as sorted on name.

I can't seem to get it to work.

These are the sort orders:

That's the active filter (note it's "descending"):

That's the resulting ticket order in the board:

Mh. Nulls are last, but the tickets with prio are sorted just opposite of what I'd expect.

If nulls are last, then you sorted on descending mode, what explains reverse order you get.
(sorry, I cannot read russian on your screenshots)

Ok, now it's official, I'm just too stupid and can't properly order the numbers 10, 20, 30 and 40 in ascending or descending order in my head... :-/

Ordering works now after reversing the sort order values of the priorities. Thanks.

Concerning the language in the filter dialog:

I don't know why the filter dialog shows the filter description in German - I made those screenshots with the "admin" account, which is set to English as you can see from the button labels and other texts. (The filter is shared from a user account which is set to "German", so this may be the reason. Somehow, the language setting of the current account showing this filter does not seem to take effect here.)
