Would like to get some clarification on this situation:
Why is the planned end date at 01/10 instead of 18/09? You can see above that the only activity in the project just goes from 02/09 to 18/09 and I can't get why I get the planned end date after that period? Can someone shed some on this?

Most likely this is because you have 'real work' logged on 01/10.
The 'planned end date' is actually the max of 'initially planned end date' and 'real end date' => if someone actually did some work on that activity on 01/10, it cannot end before that date.
You should be able to check in the 'detailed work per resource' report if this is correct.

But that is not what is happening. The monthly detailed real work per resource is empty for October, reason why I don't understand why I get that 01/10 for planned end date. I just have a few days (6 total) in September.
Let me ask this question: If someone by mistake introduced real work to 01/10 even if by mistake and later removed, would that justify what is happening? (Not sure if this happened, just trying to understand why)
Most likely :
you planned activity, that had plannig date to 01/10 (expected planned date)
then resource entered some real work up to 18/09, set left work to zero, and indicated task as done : so real end date was defined as last real work (18/09)
Since real end date is set, and no left work exist on the task, planned end date is not acutalized any more : it will alway stay to latest value.
It has no importance as real end date exists.
