This resource has been assigned in some tasks on your project ?
Has he consumer time work in one task of your project ?

When you replace a resource, work remains (left work) are transferred to the new resource.

The work done (real work) by the old resource it remains.

So, even if the resource is allocated to project, it's available for others.

At best, you can set allocation end date.

thanks for your help and information. I checked it now and I think I understand it.:)
Our Resources are allocated to the project and activities of the project. If there is assigned work for a resource the resource will be replaced. But if there is no assigned work for a resource the 'old' one remains and the new one won't be allocated to the activity. So I understand that the 'old' resource remains allocated to the project. But what can we do when we want completely change a resource for the whole project and the activites of the projec? Also at activites we don't know the working time yet?
