According to our products and orgnisation, a development is an epic and usually consists of different parts made by different teams.
I want to have an overlook on the epic so I intended to create a project for the epic. But then how can each team plan its activities ?
I considered then to create a project for each team (as each team produces a componant of the solution). Seems to fit in the team organisation. But then how can I get the global picture on the epic ?
The 2 approaches seem to contradict each other.
Should using a lead project and milestones to coordonate them be explored there ?

You can create a global parent project and for each component of your solution, you create a project with as assigned resource the resources of the team that must work on that component.
Therefore you can follow the overall progress and the progress for each component.
