[#925]

I required an Activity to have a fixed duration so entered Fixed Duration in the PLANNING field and the start and end dates in the REQUESTED and VALIDATED fields. When calculating the allocation of time it merely chose the next available time for that resource making it impossible to use this feature.

See also the Priority field blocking all ability to plan the resources time.

Fixed duration is designed to fix the ... duration.
So you don't need to set start and end dates, only validated duration.

This will fix duration of task, even if no work is assigned.
If work is assigned, il will behave like "as soon as possible", with just fixing duration. Duration can be more than validated only if resource availability is not enough to plan left work in the period.

thank you for the reply.
However I do not want something to act as Soon As Possible when I add times to the users. If I did then I would use As Soon As Possible.
What I want is that fixed duration is just that. Fixed I put the start and end times in and they are fixed.

You are asking not for fixed duration but for fixed timescale actually

I do not understand
Fixed duration is just the number of hours surely.

Fixed timescale is what I need to plan for.
I have to do some work between two dates. No choice regardless of other work to be completed.
This is impossible to enter into ProjeQtOr

Yes it is :woohoo:
It is regular between dates !

You enter validated start and end dates and assign work.
Work will be evenly dispatched beetwen dates.
You can also use "regular in 1/2 days" or "regular in full days".

RTFM 👿
