When adding resources to a resource pool, and using said resource pool in an activity for doing work, the resources that are part of the resource pool appears to be free during the period where they are working in the resource pool when viewing them in the resource planning/resource reports.
Is there a way around this? It makes resource planning confusing when using resource pools as individual resources appear to be free, but in reality is not.
Yes, it is the limit of the pools.
You cannot say which resource will work on work planned for the pool.
So all appear free, even if one will have to work for the pool.
That's why we show the pool when showing data for a resource (for instance in Resource planning)
I get your point, but what if I have a pool of three resources, and assign this pool to a big task (> 1000 hours), with FTE = 3. The resources have other assigned tasks on other projects that always has higher priority than the big task, such that the work-throughput of the pool isn't necessarily 300% at all times. After executing the plan-algorithm, the big task gets scheduled based on the available work-load of the pool, and as such is aware of which of the 3 resources that are working for the pool at any given day to make this schedule happen/valid. Wouldn't it at least make sense to represent the work-hours for the pool per resource in the "Colored monthly resource planning" report, as the resources has actually been planned to do this work for the schedule to be valid, and are at least temporarily occupied?
This could be possible, but it's heavy work and would work only in this case...
