[#404]

Hi,

We would like to use status change like validated to indicate the code review done. But to do so it need to be set the way that only ANOTHER PERSON could change that status. It may be just another project member, so limitation is only NOT THE SAME PERSON who been coding it. Can you please suggest the way to set it up?

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Evgueni

There is not way to do what you expect.
The tool is not designed for it.

An option, but without blocking control, is to set a workflow so that :
- Add new status "To be valaidated" between "Done" and "Valkidated"
- only Project Manager can go from "Done" to "To be validated"
- Project Manager changes the responsible when going to "To be validated"

Then you can use the history change to check that status has been changed by another user.

Hi Evgueni,
additional to Babynus' suggestion, may be you can try this:

Either: A profile Developer can only set to status "to be validated". A profile Reviewer or Inspector can only set to status "validated".

Or: If it is not possible to have different profiles, because developers reviews code always in a peer-to-peer review (that's the case in our team), then we the validator set's status to "validated" and enteres a note, who validated and result of validation.

Hi Klaus,

Thanks - this may be useful but I probably will go for an additional task - Code Review for each task to assign resource and allocate time. For ISO certification we need to have a proof unfortunately...

Evgueni

Hi,
For iso certification, you don't have to set a process that forces the cross validation.
You just have to get the proof that it has been done this way.
History of elements, showing that status has been changed by another user (and why not an additional comment to complete validatation) shoumd be enough for ISO.

Yes, for ISO 9001 it will be enough but not quite enough for ISO 26262

When I create a new project, I cannot chose the Status I want, though I created it. Its'not available in the pull-down menu, though it was few weeks ago. 1 or 2 Status are available in the list. What happened?

Status are managed through workflow process.
First status is always "recorded" (no choice").
Then, the workflow defines who can change to which status.

1) define the workflow you need
2) set this workflow to the type of element concerned.

You can get help in the online manual ([F1])

If you can expand the list of who can change status by adding 'Reviewer' then it possibly will do for all I have been asking regarding TUEV requirements. Is it possible to link this 'Reviewer' with the role 'Reviewer' (we have it now created) selected when resource added to the task?

Question is: Is it possible to link this 'Reviewer' profile with the role 'Reviewer' (we have it now created) selected when resource added to the task? Actually we are talking about temporary profile vs. permanent.
