I have created a new profile and gave it exactly the same acess rights as for the Project Member profile. For most of the use cases the new profile works exactly the same way as the Project Member profile, but when I am editing a task, I see only current status, but not any other status that the task can be changed to.
How can I fix this? How can I show other possible statuses for the new profile in exactly the same way it is displayed for Project Member profile?

You have to update your workflows to allow the new profile to change from status to another.
