Hi,
when I create a ticket, enter the estimated work-time and assign it to a projects activity, inside activity I have
a preview of estimated ticket-time.
I'm asking for an option to have the estimated ticket-time automatically calculated to the resources assigned time inside the activity. This way
you would be able to assign tickets and have automatically an overview e.g. resource-planning.
Does soemeone has an idea?
Best regards,
Torben
I'm asking for an option to have the estimated ticket-time automatically calculated to the resources assigned time inside the activity
Sorry, I don't understand the request.
Could you please explain ?
Hi,
I added some screenshots to show what I mean.
My intention is:
1. Create an activity and add 2 resources
1.1 without any planned worktime on activity or resource
2. Create one or more tickets and assign to above activity and resource #1
2.1 Define estimated worktime on this ticket
3. Repeat step 2 for resource #2.
My expectation is
1. Automatically get assigned worktime for resources in activity (Assignment)
2. Automatically calculate real and left worktime in activity (Assignment)
3. Automatically calculate assigned, real, left and resessed worktime in Activity (Costs and work)
4. Have these worktimes in planning-view, resource-planning, ...
I hope I could explain what I mean 🙂
Best regards,
Torben
OK, I understand now.
In fact it already works as expected except for assigned time.
1. Automatically get assigned worktime for resources in activity (Assignment)
As designed, the project leader tries to "plan" (assign) the work that resources will spend on tickets.
It is important to book time for resources even before we receive tickets, and be sure resource is not booked on other activity.
2. Automatically calculate real and left worktime in activity (Assignment)
It is already working this way (real work entered on ticket is subtracted from left work, initialized from assigned work)
3. Automatically calculate assigned, real, left and resessed worktime in Activity (Costs and work)
It is already working this way
4. Have these worktimes in planning-view, resource-planning, ...
It is already working this way
I guess that what you expect is to initialize assigned from tiket estimated work.
This can possibly be a good idea in use case, but should be correctly designed not to go against existing design.
In your way of working, you plan only what you know.
In designed mode, we try and plan what we don't know yest (but we have information to check is we plannned enough)
Thanks for your reply!
I just tried to assign some worktime before creating and assigning the tickets.
I assigned one single ticket with 12 hours.
Result:
Project
- Assigned hours: the before assigned hours from the activity
- left hours: assigned hours + ticket-hours
- - expected 80 + 12 ; got: 80+16 (maybe old, deleted ticket?)
Activity
- Assignments: no change
- Cost and works: no change
- Steering: ticket-hours (correctly 12)
When I assign a ticket to an activity, the time is not calculated to activity or project.
When I assign a ticket to a project only, the time is calculated to project.
Sorry for asking, but at the moment I am a little bit confused...
Two screenshot attached.
Remark:
There seems to be a little bug in activity-view: Counted tickets counts deleted ones although (see Screenshot).
Two old assigned tickets have been deleted and a new one has been assigned.
When I assign a ticket to an activity, the time is not calculated to activity or project.
How doi you do this.
Do you use Planning Activity ?

Yes, I created project and activity using form "Planning".
Now I am step further.
Ticket-Time is calculated to projects "left-time" and "reassessed time" - but is not calculated to assigned activity at all.

Torben
Yes, I created project and activity using form "Planning".
No, What I mean is : do you use the filed "Planning activity" on the tickets.
It is the way to "link" the ticket to the activity so that work on tickets is correctly consolidated to the activity
Yes, this field is used to assign the ticket to the activity.
Then the work on activity should be updated correcly.
Try this ;
- create activity X
- assin 5 days to A on the activity (left is set to 5 also)
- assin 3 days to B on the activity (left is set to 3 also)
at this step, assinged on activity is 8 and left is also set to 8
- Create ticket Y
- assign ticket Y to activity X
- Enter 1 real work day for A on Ticket Y
at this step :
=> assinged on activity is 8, real is 1 and left 7
=> assigned to A is 5, real is 1, left is 4
=> assigned to B is 3, real is 0, left is 3
Ok, this way it behaves as you wrote. Many thanks!
What I did before was creating the ticket (inclusive assignment to activity) in one step
So it seems important to exactly follow the steps:
1. Create Ticket (without assignment to activity) and save
2. Assign Ticket to Activity and save
3. Book worktime on ticket
Afterwards I can change ressource-times in activity as needed and/or change estimated ticket-time.
I think a good improvement for projeqtor would be to directly calculate estimated ticket-time as assigned resource-time in activity. This way - in my opinion - the planning and resource-planning would automatically update.
Actually planning-views are based on pre-set assigned resource-times in activity. Although booking on ticket does seem to have the same impact on "planning-calculation" of planning-views as submitting work directly on an activity.
Best regards and many thanks this way,
Torben
