Apologies if this has been asked for before, but would it be possible to add MS SQL Server as a supported database

This has not been asked before and is not in the roadmap. ProjeQtOr is a free PM software and concentrates on free solution.
If you need this compatibility for your enterprise, you may request for it as an evoltuon service.
