Hello
In the moment if one make a checklist, one can say that it is required to switch to "done" state, which i guess has to do with the "done status" of the status type.
If this would be switched in the checklist to the status type (drop down menu) it would allow e.g. to add a mendatory checklist for a verifier / validator of an activity.
Now there would be for sure the problem, that by switching workflow, the new workflow wouldn't contain a specific "status type", which would also mean that the condition is not mandatory anymore.
Another issue could also be that the assigned state type could be deleted, but i am sure you got solved this problem in the past already due to the fact that everything using a workflow could have such a problem after modification.

Not directly, it is linked to the "done" checkbox.
But status "done" automatically checks this box.

As you explain there are lots of contraintes to do this, insuring consitency on status list and workflow.
We try and keep things simple.
