It seems that in the "projects portfolio" screen (which I find very useful, nice feature! :)), closed projects are not visible, even with the "show closed projects" box checked.
See the screenshots, I would expect to see the project "SUbProj2" in the portfolio list. It should be similar the "Projects" screen, where SUbProj2 is visible.
(this example is taken from your "demo" database, where I was experimenting)

It is linked to ticket #1182 : closed projects are never displayed.
Will be fixed on next version.
There is way around - keep finished projects as 'delivered' but not 'closed'
Yes indeed, I thought of that 🙂
However I like the fact that with "closed" state, you can choose to show them or not:
this way I have an uncluttered view (closed projects not shown usually), but if I want to check information on the project I can check the box and see everything.
I understand and I have raised this long time ago because I cannot even show to auditor project if it is closed. What I suggested is a way around until it is not implemented.
