I am having below error on v10.4.4
please support
Error sending mail
SMTP Server : localhost
SMTP Port : 25
Mail stored in Database : #13723
PHPMail error : SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting

First migrate to V10.4.5, the last stable release.
Then, issue is basd configuration of email sending.
Fix it in global parameters.

There is no "default" setting.
You must connect to your own mail server.
