Hi all, I have been lurking in ProjeQtOr community from Canada for several years with the idea I might provide support services to startup engineering product development organizations (my focus is engineering product development project management and PLM, including engineering document control, supply chain and manufacturing process).
However I have never been able to push through the learning curve and keep returning to "ToDoList" - my goto Windows desktop application (like ProjeQtOr is open source but unlike ProjeQtOr is effectively single-user on Windows only). This is likely because I haven't had crossed paths with someone needing a sophisticated multi-user cloud-based project management system, but of course if I don't learn ProjeQtOr I will never be able to demonstrate its value...
I think my best strategy is to import my tasks from ToDoList into ProjeQtOr and learn _just enough_ ProjeQtOr to get started and over the initial learning hurdle. I can export my tasks from ToDoList in CSV format, one row per task. Included in the row is a parent task ID (the tasks are hierarchical) and an adhoc text comment field (max 4K characters - which I would want to preserve in ProjeQtor, I use the notes field essentially as a diary for the task with detailed notes on the task goal and execution.
I made it part-way through the process of exporting a data template and determining a suitable field mapping, and then I discovered there is a TODO module which is disabled. Should I import my tasks (currently grouped into 6 projects at the top-level) as a hierarchical todo list in an arbitrary generic project? Is that even possible? Should I start by creating projects that correspond to the top level of my hierarchical todo list, and import the tasks for each project seperately? I am guessing the project way is "the right way" but I am concerned it will impose considerable overhead for me that I do not need at this time (i.e. simpler would be better to start with).
What in general do you think would be the "best way" to import my tasks and manage them in ProjeQtOr as a newb? (even if simpler now means re-factoring later should a project becomes complex enough to manage individually). I would sincerely appreciate any help.

Import into Projeqtor is done element by element. If your tasks are grouped under a parent folder, you'll first need to import the parent folder as a project and the tasks within it as activities, for example.
In the Tools > Import > ? menu, you'll find CSV field templates for each element.
Feel free to read the import documentation or press F1 on the import screen to find help.

As a complement to Arkhanje's answer, the TODO module is not what you expect as the TODO list in other tools.
Todo list from other tools can be
- actions (the simplest way)
- tickets (the IT way)
- activities (if you want to plan them)
and even any other object
- requirements
What other tools call a "task", listed in TODO, can be much more detailed in ProjeQtOr
In ProjeQtOr, TODO Lists is a way to detail main objects (Tickets, Activities) without having to split this item into other items.
For instance, I have an Activity and I just want to check some points that nee to be done for this activity.
Other example (that we use in our track instance) : when ticket is done, but tests shows issues, we descripbe issues in the todo list.
