Is there a way to configure a workflow/project or something else so that the system changes the state automatically from a defined state at the start date to "in progres" and at the end date to "done" including the booking of the time of the assigned resource?

One mecanism exists that can be configured on global parameters
- on first input of real work, the activity move to first "in progress" status
- on last input of real work (when left = 0), the activity moves to first "done" status.
You also have an option on global parameters
- when first sub-activity (of an activity or project) moves to "in progress", the activity move to "in progress"
- when last sub-activity (of an activity or project) moves to "done", the activity move to "done"
