Some ideas have been coming from time to time, but there is no priority on this point.

199x design is result of a global conception to target to maximum usability.
It is a fact : web applications usability cannot reach level that was brought by 199x Client / Server applications.
Even now, some entreprises still use (very) old character modes applications, for one reason : there is no quickest way to enter data.

ProjeQtOr was designed to reach this usability, using web technologies (smartest technologies for easy wide deployment).
I think this goal is reached.
New interface could be an improvement, if it does not reduce this usability.

Any idea is welcome.

I understand that a major overhaul of the GUI is out of scope (at least) at the moment.

One thing I've seen, and appreciate, in new webapps is an "in-context tour popups signs" system (don't know any less-complex name to name it :unsure: 😛 )

As an example I attach a few print screens from google maps, showing the "Tour" thing.

If such thing is possible with not-so-big-an-effort, it could be a nice-to-have. Mainly when dealing with clients, or occasional contractors, which are going to use "our" Projeqtor only eventually, anf therefore need to get started quite fast (it's hard to convince them to spend many hours/days learning the system if they're just going to use it every once in a while).

It could be implemented gradually: perhaps explaining menu, sidebar, status bar and console, for example. And then extend it to specific screens: what can you do in "Tickets" screen, "Work allocation" screen, "Documents" screen, and so on...

Your request deals with integrated help, no real new functionality.
Some helps already exists on the tool :
- some fields have "hint" fields (mostly on parameters screens)
- on every page, [F1] key opens the contextual online manual, that gives help to current page.

It is not in ProjeQtOR scope to integrate dynamic help in tool learning.
Such functionalities can benefit largely spread applications, such as Google Maps, with very large public.
ProjeQtOr users are not so numerous.
Moreover, ProjeQtOr mostly targets on Project Leaders, who should understand items managed by ProjeQtOr, because it is Project Management best practices.
Other users will have a more restricted use, that they will quickly learn.
