[#4233]

I am finding the automated way of Planning Activities very frustrating. ProjeQtor itself is the most amazing Project Management Software I have found, but when it comes to planning and scheduling activities, I am not sure why you wouldn't allow the user to manually move the planning dates.

What I am proposing is that in the Planning Mode or Resource Planning, have the option to do it manually or to actually put in the planning dates manually.

When I hover my mouse over the horizontal calendar it shows this little icon link. Why can't you allow me to put the start date and end date and the hours are calculated on the day based on the planning options. Have it sort out the days makes it very hard, when you have to change activities around.

Also, why not create an extra row at the top of the Planning Mode and Resource Planning and actually display the number of hours of work scheduled on that specific day.

This would be so helpful.

Because ProeQtOr calculates a Capacity planning : real planning with possible end dates based on capacity of resources that may work on several projects at same time.

have the option to do it manually or to actually put in the planning dates manually.

PrpjeQtOr is not designed to "draw" a planning, but to "calculate" it 👿
But you can get what you want : just use planning mode "fixed duration" or "regular between dates".

Why can't you allow me to put the start date and end date and the hours are calculated

Because ProjeQtOr is effort driven, not duration driven : you give him required work to execute the task, it calculates the dureation, not the other way round.

Also, why not create an extra row at the top of the Planning Mode and Resource Planning and actually display the number of hours of work scheduled on that specific day.

This would be quite complex (technically) to do and would highly increase response time for these screens, that are already quite complex to build and quite heavy to draw by your html browser...

Thank you for the reply. Can you at least explain how each of the planning status work, so that way I can gain some control in setting up the priority of how things are meant to be done.

I understand that technically it would be difficult, but at the same time, not know how many hours are actually being work on each day when planning it makes it hard to know what to put in so the work is done.
