[#2851]

Hi

I plan project for IT System, and sometimes, we need a specific date for some tasks (i.e., a window maintenance...) but I didn't simulate it on ProjeQtOr, is it possible to force a task to a specific date?

Thanks

You have several ways :
- planning mode = not start before, and hight priority (1)
- planning mode = regular between dates (will have highest priority) => my advise
- set a fixed milestone and add task with only milestone as predecessor, with plannong mode = fixed duration
- define task as a Meeting => also a very good alternative

Thanks for your quick answer. In my case, I have two projects with planning mode "regular between two dates", and in this case, just the last solution worked for me.

As a suggestion, I think a new planification mode could be create to avoid to change the priority and/or the planification mode to force a date to a task, are you plan this on your road map?

Thanks again.

Hi Babynus, do you think it is a possible evolution?

I'm afraid this planning mode will not be possible.
Imagine you define a "fixed" tasks on 1 day with 2 work days ...
Or you fix the task, and assign it to a resource who is out this day ?

You are right but in the real world, sometimes we need plan to a specific date that's why in ProjeQtOr, some plannings cannot reproduce the reality. Nothing can be done now.

One possibility : if you're sure the work has to be done on that date and will be done on that date : directly enter real work !

Yes but it is not displayed on the Planning, we can enter a real work but the planning is wrong.

How the planning could be right if you have no validated/assigned work for the ressource (i.e.because you just enter a real work allocation)?

In my understanding, the planning is created when you have a validated work which is assigned to a ressource and after check the disponibility of this ressource, am I wrong? Without an assigned work, no planning is generated.

Enter real work does not forbit to define validated work and requires to define an assignment 😉

No, planning is defined form Left wor, an integrates real work also.

Just have a try, you'll see.

Yes, you are right, (I use it to manage the indisponibility as half day, holidays...etc) but every solution has a disadvantage, and for your solution, I think it is not clear, because you will have some tasks planned with the "traditional" way (task ---> assign ---> work ...etc) and others with the real work allocation, so I think it is more complicated to understand the planning.

Thanks for share your tips.

I read this topic with interest. I have a quite similar question. I have an activity which is annual task. I want to assign 3 hours to Charlotte (a resource) each monday morning.
How could I plan it?
I would prefer not to use "real work affectation" because as El Wallos said : "

All the best

You cannot with an activity.
Recuring activities are not integrated yet.
It is subject of ticket #1053.

Possibly you can use reccurring meeting, but it's not excactly like planning an activity.
