Hi, I'm looking for a way to edit real dates, is this possible for the scenario below?
I setup a project template and then copied it to new project. During the copy it took what appeared to be my fixed duration tasks and set a real start date using today's date, even though there were no hours charged and in these specific cases not even resource assignments. This of course created out of sequence progress, etc.
I ended up deleting and re-adding the fixed duration tasks, however, now even summary bars still have the real dates and of course deleting/reading those is a much larger job. So I'm looking to remove the real dates from the summary tasks.
Also, is this a bug and if yes, what work around should I use? Do not use fixed duration?
Thank you
Judy

Real dates only come from "real" situation.

It is possible if status of activity is "done". Otherwise, it should be an issue.
I tried to reproduce, but is status of template is not done, real dates of copied items are not set.
If you reproduce with not done status, please post more details (print screen, detail of activities, example on demo...)
Hi, I've attached a document that shows the template and the resulting copied project. Please let me know if you need additional information or have difficulty opening. Thank you
The difference between template and copied is status : template has "proposed" status (means not stated)
Activities have "Active" status (means started).
So, activities with not planned work but started status automatically have real start date.
So I think you are saying the system marked it started because I changed the status to Active. Do summary and fixed duration tasks (zero work) need to be changed to active at any point during the project or can they always stay in a copied state?
Copies state is very temporary status.
Is is used mainly to avoid alerts, emails and else that could be generated before the copied item is updates (copy is never exactly the same as original).
Best is to move to some 'in progress' status.
